Here is my favorite find to date from my Goodwill:
A white cabbage head soup tureen with lid, ladle, plate, and four bowls for $10!!!!!! In PERFECT condition!!! When I saw these babies taped together up on the shelf, I literally squealed with excitement. For my friends who know me reading this, can't you just imagine me doing that?? I didn't have a shopping cart, so I ran to the front of the store to grab one and then ran to the back of the store to get them. Luckily they were still there! (I am sure the other people there thought I was crazy.)
I checked the bottoms of the bowls and they are marked Made in the USA. The bottom of the platter is marked Made in Calif, Poppytrail. I did a little research, and found that Metlox Pottery in California made Poppytrail pottery, but I really don't think this is authentic. Do any of you know? How awesome would it be if they were authentic Metlox?
At any rate, $10 for a tureen, ladle and bowls is a pretty good deal, even if they are not really old or authentic. They are good enough for me! Come back to see me use them in an Easter tablescape!
Thank you for visiting and many thanks to Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for hosting Today's Thrifty Treasures!
Trust me, the thrifting well isn't going to run dry! I've been doing this for years and while I don't find treasures every week, there's always going to be more to find. Love your tureen!
