Another's Trash is My Treasure

I am new to the home decor blog world and I never imagined the treasures that awaited me at Goodwill or other thrift stores. I always just assumed that I wouldn't find anything worth buying, so I didn't go. WHAT WAS I THINKING??? I have turned into a thrift-aholic! I have found soooo many goodies, but I will only share one per post just in case the well runs dry!

Here is my favorite find to date from my Goodwill:
A white cabbage head soup tureen with lid, ladle, plate, and four bowls for $10!!!!!! In PERFECT condition!!! When I saw these babies taped together up on the shelf, I literally squealed with excitement. For my friends who know me reading this, can't you just imagine me doing that?? I didn't have a shopping cart, so I ran to the front of the store to grab one and then ran to the back of the store to get them. Luckily they were still there! (I am sure the other people there thought I was crazy.)

I checked the bottoms of the bowls and they are marked Made in the USA. The bottom of the platter is marked Made in Calif, Poppytrail. I did a little research, and found that Metlox Pottery in California made Poppytrail pottery, but I really don't think this is authentic. Do any of you know? How awesome would it be if they were authentic Metlox?

At any rate, $10 for a tureen, ladle and bowls is a pretty good deal, even if they are not really old or authentic. They are good enough for me! Come back to see me use them in an Easter tablescape!

Thank you for visiting and many thanks to Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for hosting Today's Thrifty Treasures!

You'll meet some of the greatest women out in blogland & you know how much fun all this decor stuff can be. Thanks for joining the party. I LOVE your white cabbage pieces, I would have been all over that too. I collect white dishes & also green Bordallo pottery in the bunny & cabbage patterns that's made in Portugal.
